In today’s episode of Dr Nora, I take you through everything you need to know about vaping, from what it is, what is inside them, the side effects and how to stop.
Vaping is becoming increasingly popular in our younger populations. With the ability to buy them easily, the contents within them can be quite alarming. From Formaldehyde to mercury, these are just some of the chemicals studies have demonstrated to be in the vape fluid.
Side effects are many, but one worrying side effect is a condition known as obliterans bronchiolitis, otherwise known as popcorn lung. This is due to a chemical called diacetyl that is responsible for some of the flavours of the vapes which causes the tiny air sacs in the lung to collapse, making it harder to breath.
Quitting is the best option and there is a lot of help out there, from your own medical doctor to apps such as MyQuitBuddy and Quitline. Be sure to get the help and support to make your journey a success.
